How to use the prompt builder
- Pick a template that is close to your task, or start blank.
- Replace anything in [square brackets] and fill in the context. Context is what turns a generic answer into a useful one.
- Choose the answer format and length so you do not have to reformat the result.
- Copy the prompt and paste it into your AI assistant. If the first answer is not right, change one thing in the form and try again.
What makes a prompt work
Every prompt this tool builds has the same parts, because each one removes a kind of guesswork for the model.
- Role. Sets the point of view and vocabulary. "Senior editor" and "patient teacher" produce different answers to the same task.
- Task. One clear instruction. If you need three things, say so as three numbered tasks.
- Context and audience. The situation and who the answer is for. A model cannot see your business, so anything it needs to know has to be written down.
- Rules. What to avoid and what limits apply. Specific rules ("under 120 words", "do not promise refunds") work better than general ones ("be professional").
- Output format. Tells the model the shape of the answer: a table, steps, JSON, an email.
- Example. Showing one good answer is often the single biggest improvement.
Prompt builder FAQ
Does it work with ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini?
Yes. The result is plain text with simple headings, so you can paste it into any AI assistant or API. The structure is not tied to any one product.
Is anything I type stored or sent to you?
No. The builder runs entirely in your browser. Your last form is remembered only on your own device, using your browser's local storage, so you can come back to it. The Clear button removes it.
Why does my prompt need context if the AI is smart?
Because it only knows what is in the conversation. Without context it fills the gaps with plausible guesses, which is where wrong or generic answers come from.
Should I paste customer or company data into a prompt?
Only if your AI provider's terms and your own data-protection rules allow it. When in doubt, remove names and identifying details first. This is a general caution, not legal advice.
